Book Review: Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer

Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest DisasterInto Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster by Jon Krakauer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Into Thin Air is the first book that I've read among the masterpieces of Jon Krakauer; and from there on, I'd considered Krakauer as one of my favorite authors. Writing a true-to-life story, not to mention a tragic one, isn't that easy to achieve; but Jon Krakauer filled his masterpiece with a perfect flavor of thrill at its magnitude that readers are seemed being plunged to an actual encounter of cataclysmic disaster at Mt. Everest. The pacing is quite impressive, and the story's approach itself is worth raising the bar. The detailed description of Mt. Everest is very entertaining as if readers have had their real climbs up on the mountain. What's more, like any other stories that inject lessons worth of keeping, Into Thin Air proved to mankind that there's no such thing as burning desire nor fame and prestige to compensate the glory of 'life and survival' no matter what risk it demands.

Book Review: The Lovely Bones

The Lovely BonesThe Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A unique approach of a story that can be found only at The Lovely Bones. Alice Sebold made a beautiful narrative of a dead innocent who'd been a victim of human's cruelty and sexual insanity. I was never been fascinated to reading a story where teens are the target readers, but when i got bumped into The Lovely Bones, it changed a whole lot of things. Though the pacing is a bit dragging, Alice Sebold successfully took me to different paradigms: how life could be after death, & how should it be after a shocking discovery of secrets from people you've valued & loved most. The Lovely Bones presented a tragic & sad fate where lust & selfishness are worst mixture in the quest for justice.

Book Review: Windmills of the Gods (by Sidney Sheldon)

Windmills of the GodsWindmills of the Gods by Sidney Sheldon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How a story is presented in the beginning, middle, & end is an essential factor that keeps the readers of into pages. Sidney Sheldon did it well on his Windmills of the Gods, & successfully placed a strong ingredient that surprises readers every now & then. The pacing is perfect. The plot is excellent. The story itself is well-researched. Windmills of the Gods is one of the greatest suspense stories I've had read, and Sidney Sheldon succeeded in hooking me up with such a breath-taking story, a fast-paced journey unto the world of politics & its darkest mysteries, the hidden risks behind intellect & fame, the roller coaster ride to the international secrets, sex & murder at their worst, a family at danger in every choice to take, and the survival amidst greedy interests and deceits in a game of life. There are only a few writers who can bring it on; and Sidney Sheldon is one worth to get such prestige.

Book Review: Eleven Minutes (by Paulo Coelhe)

Eleven MinutesEleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A very sensitive topic in our society that was excellently written to appear artistic, professional, & informative. Paulo Coelhe wrote it more than great that each revelation of life's realities in the story is worth a lesson to keep. so many sensitive questions about life & wild sex, & the reason it is treated according to choices is seemed being answered. but the bottom line of the story, amidst the twists & turns, or even in the dark side of life, there is always a home for love...that home is found in Eleven Minutes!
